Common entrance: Commissioner kicks against registration of underage children

The Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Modupe Mujota, has asked parents and guardians not to allow their underage children and wards sit the common entrance examination into public secondary schools with boarding facilities in the state. Mujota said this while fielding questions from reporters, after monitoring the entrance examination in some schools in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Mujota, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Alhaji Sefiu Rasheed, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination. She applauded the efforts of stakeholders at ensuring the timely arrival of examination materials and the conduct of parents and candidates at the various examination centres in the state.

A total of 18,500 candidates seeking admission into the 31 public secondary schools with boarding facilities, which are spread across the three senatorial districts of the state, sat the common entrance examination.

The schools visited during the examination included the Abeokuta Girls Grammar School, Onikolobo; St. Peters’ College, Olomore and Baptist Boys High School, Saje, all in Abeokuta
