A 20-year-old suspect has informed police in Osun State that he arrange camps close to expressways to facilitate kidnapping travellers.
Twenty-year-old Ahmad Muhammad was arrested on Ife/Ibadan Expressway at Wasinmi, a village within the state.
Throughout his parade at police headquarters in Osogbo, the state capital, he mentioned he was one of many seven gang members who kidnapped passengers on the expressway, including that he was arrested in a shootout with police.
He mentioned he hailed from Tambuwal group in Sokoto State.
“We kidnapped two folks alongside Ibadan/Gbongan Expressway after we made a roadblock. The police had been alerted and so they confronted my gang in a gun battle throughout which my different gang members ran away with the kidnapped victims. It’s painful that my different gang members left me alone in that bush and ran away,” he mentioned.
“It was simple for the police to arrest me as a result of I don’t know the routes in that bush and I couldn’t hint my steps to the place the place my different gang members escaped to.”
He named his gang members as Alhaji, Buba, Siraju, Sadiq, Saidu.
“My gang members are all Fulani and they aren’t new within the enterprise, it’s a technique of survival. I don’t have a shelter, I stay alongside the expressway. I stay on the highway to make operation simple. I stay alongside Ibadan, Kaduna, Abuja expressways to dam roads and kidnap passengers for ransom.”
