My dad’s dwelling not attacked by herders, says Soyinka’s son

Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka’s residence was not attacked by herders, his son Dr. Olaokun, talked about on Wednesday.

He dismissed a video on the social media to the affect that Soyinka’s home in  Jegba Republic near Abeokuta was invaded by suspected herdsmen.

Dr. Soyinka talked about “although some cows had been seen near the house positioned between Kemta Housing Property and Ilugun – Itoko neighborhood, there was no assault on it by anyone.

The junior Soyinka, who’s a former Commissioner for Effectively being in Ogun State, talked about: “This is not true, please do not movement into further. Help to debunk it. It is an attempt to encourage discord. Although some cows had been seen, neither Prof. nor his dwelling was attacked by anyone.

“I’ve confirmed this in the mean time (yesterday) instantly myself from him (Prof. Soyinka). Do not fall for this attempt, whatever the motive, to further inflame this problematic state of affairs.”

Ogun State Police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, talked about investigation revealed the issue wanted to do with a strayed cow.

Oyeyemi outlined that Soyinka personally sighted some cows close to his dwelling, obtained down from his vehicle and requested the lone herder to maneuver them away from the neighborhood.

Abimbola talked about: “The attention of Ogun State Police Command has been drawn to a video circulating on social media a few purported assault of Nobel Laureate Prof.  Soyinka’s dwelling by herdsmen. The command must set the report straight as follows:

“Yesterday, Tuesday ninth of February 2021, one Kazeem Sorinola, an indigene of Ijeun Abeokuta who’s into   cattle enterprise was educated by a youthful man, Awalu Muhammad, who’s  taking excellent care of the cattle that one   had obtained missing.

“Whereas the individual was on the lookout for the stray cow spherical Kemta Property, Prof. Soyinka who was going out then seen the individual with quite a lot of the cows and he acquired right here down from his vehicle to ask the place the individual was heading. He there after which requested the individual to maneuver the cattle away from the neighborhood.

“The DPO Kemta Division, who heard regarding the incident quickly moved to the scene with a  patrol workers. The DPO invited the proprietor of the cows and the individual. The duo was questioned and appropriately profiled. Your full place was inspected by the DPO and it was established that it was solely a case of a stray cow. Nothing was damaged or tampered with.

“It was, subsequently, an element of shock to see a video trending on social media that the house of the revered Professor was invaded by herdsmen with the view to assault or kill him.

“The video is nothing nonetheless a calculated attempt by mischief makers to set off panic throughout the ideas of people.

“Commissioner of Police  Edward Ajogun has been to the scene too for an on the spot analysis”
