The Home of Representatives has said the Nigeria Nationwide Petroleum Company(NNPC) should account for N1.3 trillion, which it allegedly illegally deducted from the Federation Account in 2017.
Chairman of the Home Public Accounts Committee, Wole Oke, said this whereas quizzing the Accountant Common of the Federation on unauthorised deduction from Federation Account by income accumulating businesses in that 12 months.
He mentioned it was improper that NNPC may take the cash with none questions requested.
In response to him: “They simply take cash and no one to ask questions. Even the Accountant Common can not ask questions. NNPC has to account for the cash.
“Apart illegally taking the cash, which violates part 162 of the structure, they need to somewhat account. What did they do with the cash,” he queried.
The Committee additionally queried the Accountant Common over insufficient disclosure of aids and grants to businesses amounting to N6.6 billion in the identical 12 months.
It directed the Accountant Common to offer a listing of beneficiaries of the donations.
