William Troost-Ekong: New Super Eagles hungry and will stun South Africa

Udinese defender William Troost-Ekong has said the Super Eagles are hungry for glory and the new players in the team are capable of surprising hosts South Africa on Saturday.

The South Africans stunned Nigeria 2-0 in Uyo on June 10, 2017.

“This match is a new challenge for us, we are highly motivated even though it will be difficult playing away in South Africa,” Troost-Ekong said.

“There are now new players and they are hungry to make an impact.

“They are hungry to take this chance in the absence of other players and they can surprise South Africa because they want to show what they can do.”

Wilfred Ndidi, Ogenyi Onazi, Chidozie Awaziem, Elderson Echiejile and Shehu Abdullahi featured in the game against Bafana Bafana last year, but are not available for Saturday’s showdown in Johannesburg.

In their place are the likes of Theophilus Afelokhai, Ola Aina, Bryan Idowu, Olamilekan Adeleye, John Ogu, Henry Onyekuru, Samuel Kalu and Samuel Chukwueze.
